Love and Healing

God helped me see that there is life after heartbreak. When my partner left me, I was devastated. I didn’t see any way to move through my pain. I had lost my home, my comfort, and my peace of mind. I prayed and asked for a sign. Not long after, I got a call from an old friend whom I hadn’t heard from in years. Elated, I answered, and we picked up our friendship as if it had never been broken. To this day, we still remain strong and help each other however we can. God helped bring my friend to me and cured my heartbreak.

I was shown that love does not end. Love is eternal, and even in the darkest of times, there will always be a way in which love will come to the frontlines. I also worked things out with my partner, and we have become great friends ever since.

God has shown me that love never dies, it just changes its form.

He Saved a Wretch Like Me, Abuse

I was the epitome of broken, bruised, used, and abused. I sat idly by as people around me saw more worth in me, than I did in myself. I grew up lost in a world that didn’t understand. I was born into the stain of sin. I am not a person to give up. That in my former life was just plain stubbornness. I found God in a jail cell. I was 15 years old, lost, and completely oblivious to God’s love for me. All I had known my entire life was abuse. Sexual, mental, physical, emotional. In that jail cell, I asked for a Bible, and I searched for forgiveness. I was ashamed of what I had done and of the things done to me.

In two weeks, I read the Bible cover to cover, and shortly after, got saved. There is HOPE in JESUS Christ. Every ounce of shame or guilt I have ever felt has already been nailed to the cross. If I can be redeemed after so much stain and shame, anyone can. The murderer, the drug addict, the domestic violence victim, the sexually abused young girl or boy who has struggled through life. There is hope in Jesus. I once was lost in life, and now I have found Jesus. He did not need to find me, He was right beside me all along. I just had to recognize it.

Free from Addiction

I was rebellious, so God had to show me that if you keep going on destroying yourself with drugs, you’re going to lose everything. Everything I did I never admitted to anyone, then one day, I finally told everyone, my kids and my mom, that I had a drug problem and to let them know was the hardest thing I could have done. I had an image to uphold that I was hiding in. After breaking down and telling everyone God lifted a heavyweight I was carrying while I was still using drugs, it made it easier to let go of it.

I know I’m free because God has delivered me. He continues to show me his love by giving me insight into his word and helping me get more involved in understanding how to use his word to better equip me for what is ahead. I know His word will keep me and maintain the victory that He has given me. Jesus is my source for everything. I am committed to Him and committed to building a loving relationship with Him because He lives in me. I am his, and He did everything for me to go on this journey. I am trusting and believing in Him, and I’m truly thankful.

Miracle from God, healing

My husband Roy, 75, has had multiple heart issues, two heart attacks, open heart surgery, seven stents, carotid endarterectomy, whereby the plaque is removed from the artery in the neck. God has raised him, healing him since he was 43 years old! The next procedure was for his chest pain approximately four years ago at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, where his Dr. needed to put in another stent in a blocked artery.

I was in the waiting room with my children, Michelle and Mark, as we were praying, someone from the operating room came to get us to go back to where Roy was having his procedure. We had no idea why.

When we walked in, we found him lying under a bright light and his doctor was sitting and bent over him. He explained the procedure he was trying to do and told us it could cause a heart attack and wanted our permission to move forward. Thankful, Roy was awake and heard everything. He said, “I’m here, you may as well go ahead.” He gave his permission for the doctor to proceed. We were escorted back to the waiting room, where we called, and texted, telling our family and friends what was happening and asking them to please pray for Roy.

Then the three of us there began praying. About an hour later, Roy’s doctor came into the waiting room all gowned up and had a big smile on his face! He said, “I don’t know what just happened, but as I was trying to open Roy’s clogged artery, other arteries all around it began opening up and blood flowed in areas that formerly had been closed. He said, “I have never seen anything like this before!”

It was then that I told him a whole bunch of prayers had been going up for him as he was working on Roy! His expression made it clear he understood! He said, “So that’s the reason all the closed arteries began opening up, and blood flowed in areas I hadn’t touched! Yes, God had just answered our prayers through him, and Roy just had another miracle from God poured out on him. Hallelujah!

Faith in Action, Healing

In 2011 my mother had a stroke that put her in the hospital. This particular stroke was a bad one and affected the left side of her body. She was paralyzed on that side for about 24 hours. The doctors revealed that she had multiple strokes before this one, as was shown by the blank spots in the brain scan. It looked like a rickety road. The doctor explained that all the dark spots were signs of brain damage. We all wondered how she could still be functioning, moving, walking, talking, and existing. The doctor said it was a miracle and he couldn’t explain it. There was a block to her stem cell, so they put in a stent so her blood could flow to her brain properly.

I stayed at the hospital with her from the time she got there until she left. When she recovered from the surgery she began physical therapy to train her left side how to move again. The doctors said she wouldn’t walk, but she proved them wrong. She refused the wheelchair and was determined to walk and she did. She worked hard and never gave in to her fears. She walked out of the hospital and went on to have a good ten years. After all the strokes.

It seemed like her recovery and living a full life with the function of her limbs wasn’t possible. But God made it possible. My mother loved God, she always prayed, and her favorite scripture was Philippians 4:8. She kept her mind on God and good things and never wavered in her faith and love of God. She was an example of faith in action.
