Faith in Action, Healing

In 2011 my mother had a stroke that put her in the hospital. This particular stroke was a bad one and affected the left side of her body. She was paralyzed on that side for about 24 hours. The doctors revealed that she had multiple strokes before this one, as was shown by the blank spots in the brain scan. It looked like a rickety road. The doctor explained that all the dark spots were signs of brain damage. We all wondered how she could still be functioning, moving, walking, talking, and existing. The doctor said it was a miracle and he couldn’t explain it. There was a block to her stem cell, so they put in a stent so her blood could flow to her brain properly.

I stayed at the hospital with her from the time she got there until she left. When she recovered from the surgery she began physical therapy to train her left side how to move again. The doctors said she wouldn’t walk, but she proved them wrong. She refused the wheelchair and was determined to walk and she did. She worked hard and never gave in to her fears. She walked out of the hospital and went on to have a good ten years. After all the strokes.

It seemed like her recovery and living a full life with the function of her limbs wasn’t possible. But God made it possible. My mother loved God, she always prayed, and her favorite scripture was Philippians 4:8. She kept her mind on God and good things and never wavered in her faith and love of God. She was an example of faith in action.

Miracle Healing

When God made the impossible Possible…

Some may ask why are you posting these miracles. Well, some are posted on bulletin boards in state prisons. I pray that someone there will read these and think if God can do this for them then maybe He can answer my prayer.

So today I will tell of another miracle that was shared this weekend at my cousin’s funeral. On Thanksgiving day, 1985 they were in a simple fender bender. She even got out of the car and then became blind. Her head became the size of a basketball and after examination, the doctor said she could not recover.

Every day, Pastor Larry McDaniel would say, “Jerry, if you can hear me, squeeze my hand”, but no response. Her son-in-law told the Pastor, please speak to Ken, her husband, he is not facing the reality, he thinks she will get well. The Pastor said not me.

Ken continued to pray, and one day she squeezed his hand. He told the Pastor, so he went in and no results. Ken kept saying I will not give up, and she is going to live.

She did for another 32 years, and we gave her our goodbyes for now on Saturday. But that is not the end of the story. There will be a happy meeting in heaven, I know. When we see the many loved ones we have known here below. Gathered on the blessed hilltops with hearts all aglow. That will be a happy reunion day.

The greatest miracle of all… Changing me, my mom…

My mom was a lioness, fierce, explosive, yet fair, kind, and fun.

Over the years of her walking with God, learning from Him, growing in Him, I saw her change – become more patient, self-restrained, and humble.

Only God can change the person.

And then there’s me…

He knew me, wanting my life to be all in for Him.

Yet life got in the way – my inherited weaknesses, I didn’t even see, overtook me in my search for love and to be seen.

I left Him, He relentlessly pursued me and won me back.

The healing process began and finally, I now live on purpose, relentless in return for Him!

A miracle!

The Impossible Pass

When asked to think about what impossible to possible story of how God worked in my life, it led me to this event that happened over 50 years ago or longer. I haven’t thought about this for quite some time, but the Lord laid these thoughts on me to remember just how He is always there, whenever and wherever.

Our family was rejoicing over my older brother’s firstborn son. He was now two years old, and I was working as a waitress at the time, about a year old in our small community town. My boss received a phone call that I was to hurry home immediately, as there was a catastrophe happening. I did not know what, but I was told to go to my brother’s home right away. He and his wife lived about 10 miles away from where I was working.

To get to their place, there was a one-lane bridge over a deep creek. I reached that bridge in the middle only to be met by my other brother going the opposite way. We met in the middle, unable to back up, and worried we were on this small bridge. He explained to me that my little nephew had gone outside the gated fence and had fallen into a sewer hole in the back outer fenced yard.

He had suffocated and was found by the dog standing over this hole. His dad had tried to retrieve him and almost lost his life. We were all in shock and immediately realized we were in a dilemma of how to cross this bridge safely.

How did two cars fit this tiny bridge? No two cars could have passed on this bridge. It was “impossible”. This wasn’t possible to do, yet it did.

When my brother, who was driving the other vehicle, and I spoke about this later, we agreed that it was not our doing, but the Lord’s hand that got us through this passage. We should have toppled off the side into the deep creek. Our angels were with us in this deep time of grief. We do not always understand how we can successfully get through difficult and hard times, but knowing the Lord has been a comfort in all the rest of my journeys. I can guarantee he carries me more times than I could even count and continues to be with me always.

What a blessing to know you all can have the same comfort, just for believing. God carries you through and never leaves your side (that’s His promise).

Thank you, Lord, for your mercy and grace everlasting. I give all the glory and honor to you.

Health Miracle with my Teeth

In 2016, I got the news that I needed to get my bottom row of teeth removed. I was devastated. I told my mentor what happened at the dentist. She came alongside me and set up a GoFundMe. I was blessed with so many donations. I had my surgery in December. The pain was unbelievable. Thankfully,I was supported by my friends and family.

When I went to get a checkup and implants, I was informed that the price had increased. I felt helpless and stuck in a denture. I promised God that anything I needed to do to complete this process I would do.

A year later, I got a call to interview with WTOC. The anchor was looking through GoFundMe and wanted to interview me. I did the interview, hoping enough donations would come so that I could finish the process. After the interview aired, a friend from church called, saying her dentist friend wanted to help me. I met with him, and he shared that he would complete the work with the amount I had, or he would give me $10,000 to complete it with my original dentist. I decided to go with him.

It took another year to finish. In 2019, my dental work was completed. There were lots of tears and fears, but the Lord stood with me.
