I suffered from panic attacks since I was a child due to trauma. While pregnant and after giving birth, these attacks became worse due to elevated hormones or a misfiring of serotonin, creating a chemical imbalance.
I had just given birth to one of my children and was staying at my brother and sister-in-law’s home without my husband. I had two toddlers and a newborn and felt very alone. During this stay, I had a series of attacks, and I felt like I could not take life any longer. I pleaded with God to please speak to me and help me. After I cried out to Him, I opened my bible. When I opened it, it fell to the scripture, Isaiah 43:1-2.
“But now this is what the Lord says – He who created you (Kimberly), He who formed you (Kimberly), do not fear, for I have redeemed you. I have summoned you by name. You are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and the flame will not set you ablaze. He said, for I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your (Kimberly) Savior.” God spoke loud and clear to me that night and told me not to fear. I am not alone! My journey of healing began!
